Empowering Connections at the Titans of Real Estate Event

Yesterday, I stepped out of my comfort zone and flew to Toronto to attend the Titans of Real Estate event, hosted by my friend and former colleague, Michelle Goodridge.

Attending this event was a significant step because it was the first event I chose to attend on my own—as my own boss. I was there representing myself and my company without any agenda except to soak it all in and make new connections with like-minded women.

I'll admit I was a bit nervous. Showing up alone and not knowing anyone except Michelle gave me a little anxiety. But once I saw Michelle, felt her energy, and absorbed the event's vibe, I relaxed and embraced the experience.

The event theme was CONNECT, and the entire agenda was centered around this theme in a way I had never experienced before.

Our emcee, Stacy Prieur, reminded us to "fight for your right to be uniquely you." The idea of uniqueness has been resonating with me lately. It takes so much energy to be someone you think you should be or what others want you to be. Are you as done with that as I am?

Rebecca Reed, the Director of Operations at McFarlan Rowlands Insurance Brokers Inc., shared her personal anxiety around networking and showed us that we are natural networkers as women because we are connectors, nurturers, and community builders. All we need to do is reframe business networking as building connections with others. She provided many actionable ways to approach connection-building opportunities, and the nods of agreement around the room were palpable.

Storm Fletcher, a coach with Richard Robbins, invited us to shift our mindset by asking, "What's our positivity trigger?" She reminded us about the power of others to influence our thinking and challenged us, "If you don't take control of your thinking, someone else will."

Alex Lombardi, a REALTOR with RE/MAX Premier, started by addressing our 17-year-old selves, challenging us to "walk through life looking for opportunities" and consider them from our younger selves' perspectives.

The day's most unique and grounding part was the sound bath meditation. Jessica Botelho, a REALTOR and sound bath meditation teacher, led us through a beautiful meditation with music and sound bowls. Everyone left the event feeling happier, smarter, and more centered, with a positive outlook on the opportunities ahead.
